Bahrain: Karnataka cultural festival to be held for three days

Bahrain, Oct 10: Preparations are in full swing for 'Sambhrama 2015', the three-day mega Karnataka cultural festival being organised at the Indian Club.






The event, which will showcase a variety of fine art forms, is being organised under the banner of The Indian Club, in association with Papillon Restaurant on October 8, 9 and 10.

On Thursday October 8, popular state award-winning playback singer Rameshchandra and his team presented a musical programme, as a tribute to singing legend Padmabhushan K J Yesudas. Popular Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil numbers were presented by Rameshchandra. Local dancers added colour to the event through their performances. The event started at 7.30 pm.

On Friday October 9, Bahrain-based artistes presented a Tulu drama titled 'Ajane Aavontundu' under the direction of young, talented dramatist Karunakara Padmashali. The team was supported by well-known music director Shashi Hejmadi, who was specially flown in from Mangaluru, India. The play started at 6 pm.

Award-winning dancer and choreographer Sahana Bhat will present a spell-binding dance drama based on Indian mythology, together with trained young dancers from Bahrain on Saturday (October 10). Bhat, who is pursuing her PhD in Bharatanatyam, will also present some classical as well as other dance forms on the occasion. The event starts at 7.30 pm.

Achievers in various fields will be honoured on the occasion.

The three-day festival is being organised with the help of various cultural organisations and individuals representing Karnataka communities, based in Bahrain.
