Kundapur: Man who entered house, attempted rape - arrested

Kundapur, Oct 13: A person barged into a house in Ardi village in the taluk on the night of Sunday October 11 and tried to rape a lady. Based on a complaint filed by the lady, the accused was arrested.

The incident occurred at Gantibeelu in Ardi village. Acting swiftly upon receipt of complaint from the woman, policemen of Shankarnarayana station arrested the accused, who has been identified as Krishna Naik alias Handi Krishna (35).

Savita (32), a married woman residing at Gantibeelu was fast asleep when the miscreant suddenly swooped into her house and forced himself upon her at around 11.30 pm. Her husband and children were jolted out of their sleep at the shouts for help raised by the woman. They released the woman from the clutches of the miscreant, after which he fled from there.

The woman filed police complaint on Monday morning. The policemen obtained her statement after getting her medically examined at the government hospital in the town. They swung into action immediately and succeeded in nabbing the accused from Hebri in Karkala taluk. They are grilling him, and are expected to produce him in the court today.
