Udupi: MLA contributes towards loss of cattle in fire

Udupi, Oct 14: Three cattle were burnt alive in a sudden fire which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday October 13. The loss is worth Rs one lac.




Sources said that the cattle belonged to Challa Poojary resident of Adkadakatte near Nittur here.

Sources further said that the fire may have occurred after 12 am and the cattle died due to suffocation. The owners got to know only after everything was over. Two of the cattle that were carrying and a calf died in the fire.

Udupi MLA, Pramod Madhwaraj, Tahsildar, Guruprasad, village accountant and Sujay Poojary, OBC block Congress president visited the spot and estimated the damage caused.

The MLA personally handed over Rs 15,000 to the family as compensation towards the loss and said he will work towards receiving compensation from the state government.
