'1,000 Hardiks will rise': 22-year-old challenges BJP chief Amit Shah

Ahmedabad, Oct 15 (PTI): Hardik Patel, Gujarat's 22-year-old politician, has in a message shared on WhatsApp, asked BJP chief Amit Shah to "stay away" from the agitation he is leading for reservation in government jobs and colleges for the Patel community in the state.

"I request Amit Shah to stay away from the Patel community's agitation to get reservation. We will not stop it just because you want it. The agitation will not stop till I am alive. And if you still want to crush the stir by force, then you will have to kill me," Hardik Patel said.

In Ahemdabad, also Amit Shah's home-town, Hardik Patel said he had "learned from sources" that Amit Shah has been tasked with mediating to end the Patel agitation. "Since we will not end the stir merely on his request, we know that he will use other tactics and force our movement to finish. So I have issued that open message asking him to stay away," Patel said.

BJP leaders here did not react to Patel's comments and said they do not know of any plans for Amit Shah to visit Gujarat to resolve the reservation row. In Patel's challenge to the BJP chief, they see a new attempt to draw attention.

"Even if you kill me, thousand other Hardiks will rise. Try to accept our demands and give us justice. Otherwise, do whatever you can do," said Patel, who has alleged that he is being prevented from holding rallies and public meetings in Gujarat at the behest of Shah, whose party governs the state.

Hardik Patel is demanding that either the Patels, wealthy and politically influential, be included among the castes that benefit from affirmative action in Gujarat, or then all quota be scrapped. He has also repeatedly reminded the BJP that the Patels have played an important role in powering its political ascent in Gujarat.

The Anandiben Patel government has said it will be unable to meet Patel's demands and has also prevented the young politician from gathering crowds and addressing public meetings ever since his brief detention after a rally in Ahemedabad led to two days of violence in several cities.

Joseph: Do you really think this ia a serious agitation? NO, this is a fixed match between Amit Shah and Hardik Patel. Amit wants to abolish reservations, but due to vote bank politics he has no option than to follow this trick You remember Amin of Uganda?, he was killing his own soldiers to mislead his own people. This is the same drama. Otherwise, Hardick has no courage to oppose ruling party, that too goonda Amit.

    Dear Joseph,

Don't claim dalit status for Christianity, ... in fact ..., if i am not mistaken, the dalit's who embraced christianity are in much better status and are socially empowered community in all sphere's of development - be it economic/education/ health/ spiritual & wealth etc.,

if at all in your opinion any Christian from dalit background require social upliftment do it through your much better organized church network.

I only enlighten that there are more needy in the society who deserve to be uplifted..., please give space to them & allow the govt to carry out its action based on need.

    Dear ca girishkk, m'lore/dxb,

My question was for the discrimination of the government policies towards reservations.

WHEN A DALIT CONVERTS TO BUDDHISM HE PRESERVES HIS DALIT STATUS RESERVATIONS.

WHEN A DALIT EMBRACES CHRISTIANITY WHY HE LOOSES DALIT STATUS RESERVATIONS.

In my above view ..., the underlying notion is "OBJECTIVE".

First of all I appreciate when you use the word - CONVERT in the case of Budhism and EMBRACE in case of Christianity.

While CONVERT may have an element of rebellion or revenge, .... EMBRACE is more of a reform & voluntary action without any fear or favor.....,

Everyone know that dalit privileges & rights given in the constitution of Hindustan on a noble principle or object to uplift the oppressed (due to VARNA BEDA NITI of upper/lower class CASTISM system).

To my limited knowledge, a person embrace a faith on a HOPE of getting a peace & happiness (MOKSHA) which he/she think that achievable by practicing a particular belief. Hence after embracing, if you fight for a dalit privilege then i must say that such EMBRACING is a big FEKU (don't practice it).

I am with your argument if you correct your statement by saying if a dalit CONVERT to Christianity but not otherwise(i.e, EMBRACING).

    Jai Hind..., Jai Ho...,

    Dear ca girishkk, m'lore/dxb,

The Dalits have not embraced Christian faith after seeing the reservations are there or not.
They are discriminated in Hinduism that is why they have embraced Christianity.
When the government takes our tax paid money it is our desire to ask why this discrimination meted out to Dalit Christians.
Kindly remember the dalits as well as Christians are paying tax to the government.
Do we have the right to ask the government on peaceful manner???!!!

Is the tax payers money reserved for the development of Hindus and Dalits only in a secular India...???

Do you suggest, Muslims must look to their mosques, Christians to their churches, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. to their temples, while everyone pays tax in equal measure?

Do we have a functioning govt. in our country or not??

    @ca girishkk, m'lore/dxb
People do not embrace Christianity to become socially empowered. They come to Christianity because of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother.

The policy of reservation was instituted to uplift the low castes as an appeasement. Christianity is not a belief based on appeasement.

Christians are called to follow Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother. The upliftment of society is something all Christians do because we love Our Lord and love our neighbour.
