Mangalore: Bethany Congregation Celebrates Canonical Platinum Jubilee

Mangalore, Jul 28: The Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, commonly called Bethany Sisters, celebrated the Platinum Jubilee Year of the Canonical Erection of the Congregation at their Bethany Mother house, Bendoor, on Saturday July 28.

The celebrations began with the Solemn Eucharist which was officiated by diocesan vicar general and concelebrated by Bendur parish priest Fr Peter Noronha and Aloysian institutions' rector Fr Francis Serrao. The felicitation programme was presided over by superior general Sr Jyoti Bs. Fr Denis Moras Prabhu spoke words of felicitation.

A total of 5 books were released on this occasion. 'O Sacrament most Holy'  (The sermon delivered by Mgr Raymond F C Mascarenhas, erstwhile diocesan vicar general on the closing day of the First Diocesan Eucharistic Congress on December 29, 1938), 'Msgr Raymond – A mystic and a prophet' authored by Sr Bertha BS, Hindi translation of  the Bethany publication book 'Unless the seed die'  by Dr Fr Mathias Dung Dung SJ, 'Sanidhya', a book of retreat modules on Bethany Core Values  compiled by Sr Jessy Rita BS and 'A Handbook of guidelines on Bethany Lay Association' were released by the chief guests.

At the felicitation programme, Mother M Gemma BS, Sr M Bertha BS and Sr M Jessy Rita BS were felicitated by Sr M Jyoti BS.

Sr M Lillis BS welcomed the gathering; Sr M Joy BS did the citation of the books released. Sr M Marina BS conducted the felicitation programme and Sr M Assumpta BS proposed the vote of thanks.
