Mangaluru: Kala Konkani drawing workshop concludes

Mangaluru, Oct 15: “A workshop such as this is held by Konkani academy assuming that drawing also is a part of growth of the language. This work of making different pictures of Konkani art reaches households
through calenders and spreading the art of drawing is appropriate,” opined senior artiste Ganesh Somayaji.







He was speaking as the chief guest in the concluding ceremony of drawing workshop titled 'Kala Konkani' held by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy at Shakthinagar, Kalangan on October 14. He distributed certificates to the artistes on the occasion.

Academy president Roy Castelino presided over the programme. He congratulated the efforts of the artistes who joined hands with the academy to inform the people about Konkani art and way of life by
drawing pictures in the way the people understood. “The pictures will be used in the Konkani calender for 2016,” he said.

Artiste Swapna Noronha shared her feelings regarding the workshop. Registrar Dr B Devadas Pai welcomed the gathering. Wilson Kayyar proposed the vote of thanks. Vitori Karkal compered the programme.

At the workshop, Veena Srinivas prepared drawings of Khavi art and Rangoli, Swapna Noronha on Konkani weddings and pottery, Vishwas M on Siddhi dance and Siddhi adoration, Wilson D'Souza on Christmas games and GSB Choodi Pooje, Jeevan Salian on agriculture and nine forms of dances and Ravi Wagle on Mestha and Kharvi.
