'Kalam touched hearts of every Indian'


Chennai, Oct 15 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah on Thursday said former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had touched the hearts of each and every Indian after Mahatma Gandhi.

Launching the Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Students Federation of India at a function here, Rosaiah said Kalam had touched the hearts of the citizen of this nation after Gandhi, by inculcating noble thoughts, values, patriotism and desire to aspire in life.

"Our nation's greatest strength is our youth. Wherever Kalam went, he laid stress on the need for empowering the youth with knowledge and skills and for developing in them, the spirit of creativity," Rosaiah said at the function orgainsed by India Reigns, a monthly magazine.

Meanwhile, several events were held across Tamil Nadu to mark the 84th birth anniversary of Kalam.

The Tamil Nadu government, which had earlier announced that Kalam's birthday would be celebrated as 'Youth Inspiration Day', organised several events across the state.
