Mangalore : Armyman Sunish (23) from Puttur Dies in Rajasthan Road Mishap

Puttur, Jul 30:  V J Sunish (23), hailing from Kuntur in this taluk, has died in a freak kind of mishap in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan close to the Pak border, while on duty..

He was driving an army Gypsy vehicle, which carried some top officials and a peacock in flight happened to hit the window-shield. The vehicle went out of control and rolled over, injuring most occupants, out of them Sunish very critically.

He was rushed to a Jaisalmer hospital and after initial treatment, he was flown to Delhi military hospital. But he succumbed to the injuries early Sunday, July 29 morning.

Youngest of four sons, he is survived by parents Jacob Chacko and Rosamma and elder brothers Sunil, Sanil and Suresh, of Kuntur Maitrady.

Having had his early education in Kuntur, Sunish had automobile training in ITI, Mangalore and thereafter had enlisted himself in the Indian Army. As an enterprising young man, he had also been promoted as helicopter pilot recently.

He was down here on holidays in May 2007 for a votive visit to St George Church, Ichlampady.

His uncle Varghese Thomas recalls how Sunish had narrated that time his skills and exploits while flying helicopters.

Family sources said an uncle of Sunish (father Jacob's brother) has travelled to Delhi, to accompany the mortal remains to hometown, which are likely to be flown for final rites in two or three days.

    My Deepest condolenses to the family of late V J Sunish. Bharat Rakshak is doing greate things to the security personnels by making the whole country with them at their time of sorrow. i appreciate it.
