Dubai, Jul 30: Susir Kumar, CEO of Intelenet Global services, a Barclays / HDFC group company which was recently taken over by Blackstone, and the Management team of Intelenet were in Dubai en route to India from Mauritius after signing another deal there for opening BPO in Mauritius.
He was honoured by fellow community members under the banner of Billawa Balaga Dubai in a ceremony attended by the committee members with their families in Al Mas Apartments Hall on July 28, 2007.
Karnataka Sangha Dubai president and Tulu Koota UAE convener C R Shetty and Karnataka Sangha Sharjah president Prabhakar Ambeltare were the special guests for the occasion.
The event began with a welcome speech by Balaga's convener Chandrashekar M and guest address by Balaga founder Daya Kirodian, who was Susir Kumar’s schoolmate in Mangalore. In his address he appealed for providing job opportunities in India.
The colourful profile of Susir Kumar was read out by Susir’s younger brother Suchit Kumar who lives in Dubai and is a member of Billawa Balaga Dubai, to the loud cheers by the crowd over his achievements.
Susir Kumar spoke on the occasion on how he along with a few Mangalorean friends planned their careers in the corporate world in Mumbai in the late 80’s. He also said that anything which is started with a good intent and vision, the goals of the same will be met. He congratulated the Balaga members and the Kannadigas on their good intent of helping the needy through social networks in foreign land.
He also said he was willing to create an employment opportunity for Mangaloreans who want to settle back home from Dubai. A representative here would be identified for co-ordination with the HR head of Intelenet for the purpose. This was in response to the job appeal that was made.
Susir congratulated Billawa Balaga Dubai on completion of 10 years and assured he will do his best to come again for the “Dashamanotsva" Decennial) celebration of Balaga on October 19. He is one among the galaxy of guests who have been invited by Billawa Balaga Dubai for the occasion.
C R Shetty and Prabhakar Ambeltare also spoke on the occasion. Raghuram Suvarna and Harish Amin, conveners of Billawa Balaga Dubai participated in the honouring ceremony. The guests were welcomed to the dais by Ashwin Salian, Ashok Poojary and Pushparaj Bolar.
