Udupi, Oct 23: One person died and another was injured in a ghastly accident between a tempo and a truck on NH 66 at Kinnimulky here.
The collision took place between a tempo carrying LPG cylinders from Udupi to Mangaluru, and a truck plying from Udupi to Mangaluru.
The driver of the tempo, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, died in the accident, while the truck driver sustained injuries.
Though initial reports claimed there was gas leakage from the cylinder, it was later confirmed that no such thing occured. The fire personnel rushed to the spot and took preventive measures to ensure there was no leakage.
Traffic on the highway was affected for about one-and-a-half hours following the accident.
Udupi traffic police have registered a case.
