Mangaluru: Thieves break into shop, take mobiles worth lacs

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (JS)

Mangaluru, Oct 23: Thieves who entered a shop dealing in mobile phones located at Kankanady here on the night of Thursday walked away with cell phones worth lacs of rupees. The incident came to light on Friday October 23 morning.

The shop named 'Ruby mobiles get connected', housed near Neelgiris supermarket in Kankanady was the shop where the theft took place. As per an estimate, the thieves have taken about 60 new cell phones. The loss is yet to be estimated.

According to shop owner Zulfikar, he returned home as usual after locking the shop at the end of the day on Thursday. When he came to the shop on Friday morning, he found that the lock on shutter of the shop was broken. He complained to the police immediately.

A newspaper shop located next to the mobile shop would open every day at 3 am in the morning. But Thursday being a holiday, the newspaper shop was closed as no newspaper was available on Friday. Thieves must have taken this fact into account before breaking into the shop.

A case stands registered at Kadri police station. Investigation is in progress.

Its unfortunate to read people commenting 'chaddi pudi', "china make', 'low end shop'. I don't see anyone feeling sorry for this shop owner's losses. Definitely his livelihood is affected and I am sure he has to support his family too. Though it's a humble and respectable business, when such incidents happen anyone would be devastated. Hope the police can find the culprits and try to recover his stolen goods even if chances are remote.
