New Delhi, Aug 2: Continuous heavy downpour that flooded many areas and triggered traffic snarls on Thursday put the life in the Indian capital out of gears.
Even as the torrential rains since Wednesday afternoon sent the temperature plummeting and came as a big relief to Delhiites, the showers also poured problems for the students and office going daily commuters.
With most of the Blue Line buses still off the road, water logging in many areas multiplied the problems for the residents of the city, who were already affronting commuting hardships.
Inundated road near Dhaula Kuan flyover in south Delhi was jammed early on Thursday bringing traffic to a complete halt in the area. People were seen running on flooded roads to reach their office and schools.
"I am already late as I had to get down nearly three km ahead of my office," rued an employee of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, who was hurrying to his destination.
The virtual flooding has put grave question marks on the drainage system of Delhi.
"This is the situation in national capital. A little more downpour and life is halted," said Tariq Ahmed, an employee in an IT company.
