Moodbidri: Hindu leaders get threat on Facebook - file police complaint

Daijiworld Media Network - Moodbidri (SP)

Moodbidri, Oct 24: The police station here has received a complaint from two BJP leaders from the town about life threat posed to them through electronic media. The complainants said they had received threats to their lives in the form of Facebook messages, in which they were warned of having to pay with their lives for wedging a divide between Hindus and Muslim through communalism and dirty politics.

As per the complaint, the said message was posted on October 20 through the Faebook account with the title, Mangalore Express News. The message was posted in the name of Muslim Friends, said BJP Dakshina Kannada district vice president, K P Jagadish Adhikari, and member of the district BJP executive, Sudarshan M, to whom the said message was directed.

"If you continue to play political gimmicks by creating enmity between Hindus and Muslims by spreading hatred among Hindus through communalism and inciting innocent people, our aim will be to eliminate selfish persons like you. Communal elements from the town will be our next target," the message, which also posted photoes of Adhikari and Sudarshan, said.

Sudarshan in his complaint, said that this is an effort to disrupt harmony between Hindus and Muslims that is aimed at spreading unrest in the society. He said that he does not get bogged by messages of threat, and will continue to serve religion and society as in the past.

Leaders of Hindu organizers, who have condemned this threat, have expressed resentment at the lukewarm response of the police to this incident. They recollected that the police had registered a case against Bhuvit Shetty, a Bajrang Dal activist, suo moto, relating to the tweet about Kalburgi, who was slain in the recent past.

Very sad to hear such things can happen in India wherein we the minorities try to dictate things. Secularism as a whole means bigger than what we minorities have understood. The secular fabric of our nation doesn't demand the minorities to harass the Majority. If we want respect we need to earn it by our actions and our understanding of our Indian culture and not by pointing fingers at our Friends/Brothers.

    Dear adil, dubai,

British didn't divide the India instead they made one India. The selfish forces within India have divided the nation. Yet they couldn't keep it sustained and divided the east Pakistan as Bangladesh.

Ghandhiji underestimated the dividing forces within.

If the BJP continue with insensetive remarks and actions against the public, this kind of retaliation is bound to happen and grow into a movement of intolerance which will eventually lead to social unrest, violence and riots. It is high time the PM and the central ministers take note and create a atmosphere of tolerance and good civic behaviour expecially from their cadre and the fringe elements they nurse and encourage.
