Mangaluru, Oct 24: Addressing a press meet at commissioner’s office in city on Saturday, October 24, Alok Mohan the additional director general of police (ADGP) revealed that the police have arrested one more person at Mumbai airport in relation to Prashant Shetty murder in Moodbidri.

The arrested person is Mohammed Imthiaz (40) from Gantalkatte. ADGP said that Mohammed Imthiaz is believed to be one of the conspirators in the murder.

Addressing the media Alok Mohan said "Commissioner and Mangaluru city police have done a good job. Police have already arrested 8 people regarding the murder of flower vendor and Bajrang Dal activist Prashanth Poojary in Moodbidri. Mohammed Imthiaz was arrested yesterday at Bombay airport while he was trying to flee to Dubai. Teams have been formed and police will arrest the remaining accused at the earliest. Police department will not spare any criminal. Criminal is a criminal irrespective of religion. It is just a matter of time before all are arrested. But no criminal will be spared.”

On being asked by the media about the involvement of some organizations in the murder, Alok Mohan said "There are few arrests yet to be made in this case. Once we arrest all the culprits, investigation will reveal the facts.”

On the provocative statements circulating on social media he said "All the crimes related to Internet come under information technology (IT) act. Internet is an ocean and police are monitoring everything possible. If anything objectionable is found, we request the public to inform the police officials. Strict action will be taken against trouble makers."

On being asked about the allegation of biased investigation by police department, ADGP denied the allegation and said "The case is being investigated by a team of police officials and there is a hierarchy in the department. Thus there is no point of biased investigation and police personnel work according to the law. Relatives and friends of accused will feel that the accused is innocent but police will not arrest anybody without evidence. There are strict guidelines from the supreme court which we follow."

He also said "Police officials are committed to maintain peace. Hence they have acted swiftly and arrested the culprits in the minimum time. I want to warn the anti- social elements that if anybody takes law into their hands, strict action will be taken against them according to the law".

On being asked about the political pressure, he said "Government has given us free hand. There has been no interference from anybody".

IGP, Amrith Pal, superintendent of police Sharanappa and police commissioner S Murugan were present in the press meet.

Bajrang Dal had some grudge with few people who are socially active and who are fighting against moral policing in Moodibidre, hence when Prashant Poojary got killed by unidentified masked men then they publicized those four names through their one of favorite evening and daily paper.Police found no clues on this case and who are already under pressure after Kalburgi and SI Jagdish murder had no option other than fixing innocent person told by BD and get rid with this case when BJP started to highlight this case in national media against Dadri lynching. At the end No justice for Prashant Poojary family who lost his only son and BJP and RSS convincing them by giving good amount of money to Prashant family.

Lets pray the culprits receive the harshest of punishments so such acts are not repeated. I sincerely hope there would be no political interventions to support them, the usual 'saviour of minority' drama.

According to police so far arrested accused said to be identified by Prashant Poojary before he died are not at the spot of incident but they are conspirator. How could it possible to spill out those names who are not at the spot of ution. One of them even surrendered very next day to police to clarify on this but police kept him in custody for 10 days when BJP put pressure to arrest the culprit and called protest on 20 Oct then police d him as conspirator under the pressure from Sangh Parivar.Hope this case will not bring embarrassment like Shimoga incident when police arrested some innocent people from a Muslim outfit under the pressure from Sangh Parivar and some media later found to be as insider job.

As per police statements most of the accused are arrested already but what about the suicide of eyewitness?? What is the link between this suicide n murder???

This case is not just a murder but also about suicide so that higher level/impartial investigation is required to punish the real criminals.

He must have told a BIG Thank you for you for finding a direct flight for him and sponsoring the expensive direct flight ticket.

If there is no direct flight from Mangalore to London, then he could have taken transit in Dubai. "Mangalore - Dubai - London" is better than "Mangalore - MUMBAI - London"... :-):-):-)

Good job, best work done by Police department as well as government.

Where as pub-attack,morning mist home-stay,birthday party attacked, church attacked,,,, that time government succeeded in arresting victims not culprits! was naked truth and hidden agenda.
AND IT WAS CALLED POLITICAL PRESSURE AT THAT TIME.
