Mangaluru: Bike-auto accident at Kallapu - Rider dies

Mangaluru, Oct 24: In an accident involving a bike and an auto rickshaw at Kallapu near Thokkottu on late Saturday night of October 24, the rider of the bike died on the spot.

Abdul Rahiman (27) is the person deceased.

The rickshaw which was carrying passengers and moving from Mangaluru towards Thokkottu hit the bike at Kallapu. Rahiman was returning to Bajal after visiting his wife’s house at Kotepura. When he reached Kallapu, the petrol in his bike got finished. So he was taking his bike by pushing it towards a petrol pump on the right hand side of the road. While he was crossing the road, the auto hit him causing his death.

Rickshaw passengers Shivaraj and Bashir sustained injuries.

Ullal police have registered the case.

Rahiman had a married a girl from Kotepura only two years back.

    Biker accidents and number of deaths should be prominently displayed at all road junctions beginning from the new year date.This should be regularly d to give awareness to the young generation. At the Marve beach Naval unit is displaying the total number of deaths by dawning.Youngsters under the age of driving carelessly drive and other road users are at their mercy.

    Dangerous spot. many accidents took place in the past at same spot resulting fatal deaths. Need of the hour is traffic dept. to bring up solution like traffic signal or speed breaker humps or traffic police control at least 12 - 16 hours a day

    Reckless driving by auto driver might have caused this accident. The traffic rules are to be made strict in this region to avoid such tragedies. Nowadays autorickshaws are involved more in the road accidents.

    we need 24 hours watch by RTO officer in hiding place by AC vehicle to stop these accidents. even police department should keep more personnel to watch these drivers and put heavy fine, for these government should provide them all facility like food and AC vehicle by reducing politician security expenses.

    Kallapu under passing is very important, no one should allowed to take U turn at kallapu. After Chokkottu there should not be U turn till muger.
