Kundapur: Brand Scan - Extracurricular activities bring out latent talents

Kundapur, Oct 25: "Educational institutions, by organizing extracurricular activities in addition to imparting education, can help students to bring out their hidden talents," said deputy superintendent of police (DySP) here, M Manjunath Shetty. He was speaking after inaugurating 'Brand Scan - 2015' programme organized by the students of T A Pai Management Institute (TAPI) Manipal on Saturday October 24 at the playground of Board high school here.
































Shetty noted that people of Karnataka are equipped with richness of languages. "Our people are largehearted, and they receive everyone who comes into the state either for education or other purposes, with open arms like their own family members. Karnataka is a beautiful garden that has rich languages and people who are proud of their traditions and customs," he added.

Zilla panchayat member, Mamata R Shetty, who participated as chief guest of the function, said that it is good to have affection towards one's mother tongue. "Our district has been a hub of education. Everyone who comes here seeking education, gets love and respect from the people here. Those who get educated here and taste success in future should pay back their indebtedness to this district by expressing their affection to the district. Parents, Guru who guides the students, and educational institutions which provide them education should be treated on par with god and respected," she advised.

Local municipal councillor, Rajesh Kaveri, traffic police sub-inspector, Jaya, TAPMI representative, Mahadevan, Gaurav, president of Rotary Club Kundapur, Prakashchandra Shetty, and entrepreneur, Hussain H were at the dais.

Mahalasa Kini of TAPMI hosted the programme. Sushmitha rendered prayer.

TAPI has been conducting this programme annually since the last three years under the title, 'Brand Scan', for studying the business and investment habits of the people here. Along with holding survey in this one-day programme, it has been organizing dance competitions, 'ideal couple' contest, balloon painting, kids talent show, bike stunt etc.

    There are many forms of extracurricular activities such as sports, clubs, student newspaper, music, art and drama. Extracurricular activities are totally voluntary so students that do not want to participate in them do not have to. It is well known that extracurricular activities have many positive effects on education. The positive effects that extracurricular activities have on students are behaviour, better grades, school completion, positive aspects to become successful adults, and a social aspect. And extracurricular activities make students competitive and fit and prepare them to master challenges.
