Udupi, Oct 25: Karnataka Dalit Sangarsha Samiti (KDSS), district unit, staged a protest on Sunday October 25, demanding dismissal of Haryana government for the recent murder of two dalits children. They also demanded the resignation of the central minister V K Singh from the cabinet for his alleged derogatory remarks on dalits.

The protest was held in front of clock tower, Udupi.

Addressing the protesters, Jayan Malpe, district convener, said, “Where is Achche din promised by PM Modi?”

Condemning the burning incident of Haryana’s two dalit children, he said, “The upper caste community had a hand in setting the house on fire. If it goes in the same way, the spark of fire will burn the whole nation”.

“The central government condemns cattle trafficking but why not impose a ban on beef export? V K Singh is indirectly supporting beef market. Whichever government comes to rule, there is no difference in the life of common people. The government is taking away their food and Prime Minister Modi is directly responsible for it”, he alleged.

Paniraj further said, “Equality and freedom for people will not be possible by Constitutions alone. It is the responsibility of the government to see that law and order is in place. There is no mutual understanding among people at present”.

“There is a need to nurture equality and harmonious social existence of people otherwise such heinous incidents will repeat in society frequently”, said Paniraj.

Fr William Martis, CMC president Yuvaraj, Hayavadan, Narayan Manohar, Manjunat Giliyar and others were present.
