Mangaluru, Oct 26: A man was hacked to death by a gang late night on Sunday October 25 at Thokottu here.

The deceased has been identified as Bolar resident Vikram R alias Vicky Bolar (28).

Sources said that Vicky Bolar was a rowdysheeter. It is suspected that the assailants belonged to rival gang of Ravichandra Poojary alias Psycho Vicky.

It is said that Vicky Bolar and two of his friends had been to attend the 'mehendi' ceremony of his friend Rohit at Kumpala. Psycho Vicky's gang too was at the same function. During the function, the two groups got into a fight over a trivial issue, it is learnt.

Vicky Bolar fled away with his friend Abhishek Shetty in his bike. The assailants then chased the duo in a Scorpio. The police who were on patrol near Kumpala bypass saw the bike being chased by the Scorpio and informed the PCR. By then, however, the assailants in the Scorpio had rammed into the bike, brutally attacked Vicky with sharp weapons, and fled from the spot.

Abhishek who was with Vicky managed to escape.

The deceased Vicky Bolar was part of the Kalicharan troupe, sources said. It is said that he was involved in the murder of rowdy Bejai Raja in 2012.

ASP Kalyan Shetty, Ullal inspector Savitra Teja, SI Bharathi and other police personnel visited the spot.

Ullal police have registered a case and investigations are on.
