Kundapur: Drowsy fish truck driver smashes into car - Youth killed, two injured

Kundapur, Oct 27: One person died and two others were injured in a ghastly accident at Beejady bypass on NH 66 here on Tuesday October 27.

The deceased has been identified as Balakrishna (26).

Two others, identified as Manikanth and Arun were injured. The accident took place when a recklessly driven fish truck plying from Karwar hit their car.

Sources said that the driver of the fish truck dozed off, and that he was driving at a high speed. The truck first hit the divider, and then smashed into the car which was on the other side of the road.

It is said that six persons from Club Mahindra Holidays had come from Bengaluru to Kundapur for an official meeting. On Tuesday, three of them - Balakrishna, Manikanth and Arun had been to a temple by car, and on their way to their lodge, the accident took place.

Both the vehicles were badly damaged in the accident.

Kundapur traffic police have registered a case.
