The ceremony, marking the birth anniversary of Yadthare Manjayya Shetty, was organized by Yadthare Manjayya Shetty Memorial Trust.

Acknowledging the honour, Dr B R Shetty recalled that he had given priority to roads, drainage, housing, health and education and engaged in political and social activities when he was the town municipal vice-president. "I later went to the Gulf in search of greener pastures and to accomplish my goals. I grew to greater heights through persistent hard work and struggle. Whatever I have achieved is not with money but by facing all the obstacles.

For this reason, for the first time ever, I made a movie in pure Kundagannada. I am glad that I got full support from the local people as the 'Gulabi Talkies' film won several awards," he said.
