Udupi, Oct 28: Condemning the irregularity of power supply, district unit Nagarika committee members staged a protest in a unique way in front of Mescom office, here on Tuesday October 27.

Nithyananda Olakadu, convener of district Nagarika committee, addressing the protestors said that Udupians are very honest in payment of electricity bills even at times of irregular power supply, but Mescom officials are fooling them.

He paid tribute to the deceased Mescom officials' by lighting candles and offering bouquets at Mescom office entrance and said that it was for awakening their souls, otherwise the Nagarika members will act as demons against the officials who have made false promises.

"Karnataka chief minister, MLA of Udupi and energy minister promised power supply 24x7, but it has not been implemented so far. The people are fed up of their false promises," complained Nithyananda.

A procession was held from the vicinity of Sanskrit College to Mescom office accompanied by the beating of the drum and blowing of fire sticks. The members were dressed as demons.

Dinakar, Rajesh, Harish Puttur, Gururaj and others were present.
