Rameez went to the Mumzaar beach with his two friends for swimming. He was not an expert in swimming which proved fatal at the end.  Sources said that level of water was not too dangerous either.  However, all the attempts made by his friends to save Rameez went in vain.

His father, who was being treated in a hospital in Saudi Arabia for heart problems, could not be informed immediately.  He was brought to Mangalore first and informed about the death of his son and immediately admitted to the hospital in Mangalore.

Rameez Raja leaves behind his parents Mohammad Ali and Rukhia, two brothers Razeem and Rahil and sister Minaz. Rameez was the eldest in the family while the second one Razeem is doing his second year of BBM while his only sister Minaz is in the second year of PUC.  His youngest brother Rahil is just 8-year-old. Rameez was working For Active  Dubai for last 18 months, and was representing Millennium Metals FZCO cricket team.

His father Mohammad has been working in Saudi Arabia for the last 12 years.  However, he too has been facing health problems of late and was in the hosptial owing to a heart problem when Rameez met watery grave here.  He was later taken to Mangalore and was admitted to hospital.  Even his brother and grandmother who are in great shock after hearing the news of his tragic death have been admitted to hospital.  Rameez's family stays in a rented flat at Kankanady in Mangalore.

One of his team-mates Anil D'Souza speaking to Daijiworld from Dubai expressed shock over his death. "The entire team members and friends is devastated to hear this news. We cannot believe that he is no more with us," he said in utter disbelief

Funeral details of Rameez will be announced later.

Ramiz joined our team about 6 months back. His talent was exceptional and all of us were impressed by his sensational batting and determined spin bowling, however what inspired us most was his homourous and smiling nature during the games. We are truly saddened to hear of his death. May his soul RIP
