Government approves aid to revamp Himachal trauma centres


New Delhi, Oct 29 (IANS): The central government on Thursday said it has sanctioned over Rs.17 crore as financial assistance for the development of trauma care facilities in Himachal Pradesh.

This is part of the centrally-sponsored scheme of the ministry of health and family welfare for "Capacity Development for Developing Trauma Care Facilities in Government Hospitals located on National Highways".

"The ministry of health and family welfare has sanctioned grants amounting to more than Rs.17 crore towards upgradation and strengthening of trauma care facilities in government hospitals in Himachal Pradesh," an official statement said.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare J.P. Nadda said his ministry was committed to strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the hill state.

The minister said an AIIMS has been approved for the state, adding that further process was underway to make it operational soon.
