Kasargod, Oct 31: A house in Uliathadka near Madhooru was completely gutted in a fire on the morning of Friday October 30. As there was nobody at home during the mishap, a major catastrophe was averted.

The fire occurred in the house of Iqbal in Rehmath Nagara. Two gas cylinders in the house exploded destroying records, electronic gadgets, and everything else.

The locals who heard the noise, informed the fire brigade but the house was burnt to ashes by the time they arrived. Iqbal’s wife had gone to the hospital as she was not well and had a miraculous escape.

The loss is estimated to be around Rs 12 lac. Iqbal was a wiring worker. The locals, grama panchayat officials, and others had helped built the house as they are poor.
