Mangaluru: MCC invites people, organisations to offer land for Smart City

Mangaluru, Nov 1 (DHNS): The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) is in the process of finalising plans for various pan-city projects and area-based development works as part of the Smart City proposal to be submitted to the Central Government, as per the guidelines of the Smart City Mission.

Based on suggestions received from citizens, the MCC proposes to develop economic growth centres as redevelopment and greenfield projects. The most important of them are knowledge, wellness and sports city; finance and tech city; eco, leisure and entertainment city, beach and backwaters tourism centre; IT park; cultural centre and city park.

The MCC has requested all persons and establishments owning large properties in city limits or contiguous to city limits, interested in offering their properties for these projects, to inform the Commissioner before November 5.

Owners of land above 25 acres can offer their properties for redevelopment projects and those with more than 100 acres can offer the land for greenfield development projects.

The projects would be developed as a joint venture between the special purpose vehicle (SPV) for the project, land owners and private developers. Attractive financial models would be developed so that it is a win-win situation for all stakeholders - landowners, private developers, the SPV and end users of the projects.

smart city designed for meeting demand & supply that for 100 yrs become exchange center of rural & urban population situated adjacent under www.rural.nic.in in India. As expenses towards development is managed from state & central govt. fund under nobody responsibility for quality work. It is thus simply a lifelong liability towards public.

Considering railway network serving today is national transport services passing through in old fashion city can be replaced with a RING RAIL_ROAD as bye pass circuit. There exists with-in city local rail network as shortest distances from town covering through LOCAL METRO almost with no addition funding. Nagar Palika can find local public sector of Govt Of India to develop and O&M such transport services and find regular business say within 50 km of rail network. (say 10 Lakh citizens paying 200 rs a month giving INR 250 cr yearly for HANDLING LOCAL TRANSPORT). Someday, rescue-emergency mode automized services in town can introduced through global ropeway technology as promoted like in area of devine tourism & in-accessible terrain of uttrakhand. Making it operational is mandatory in the world when caring the human being giving every thing for 100% fail-safe transport .

Govt Of India public sector are above 200 now in sick stage can find smart city as tool when exercised with global funding will generate employment & own business like activity that for nagar palika etc. Govt of India getting from 200 PSU's serving locally to need of nagar nigam giving 50,000 cr ex-chequer under principal partner INDIAN RAILWAY regulation of quality & safety some day Railway becoming global player for adopting best of infra-resources & funding from world Bank.

I have a question for the MCC
I have a small piece of land. I want to build a small house. I am required to leave setback for road widening. The existing road leads to a dead end. What is the use of widening a road that leads nowhere? This is nothing but harassment.

Thanks to everyone who wrote comments against this Scam idea of giving private land for Smart City. MCC could not manage what they have and will they be able to handle more.
May be the builders who built illegal structures should donate their property.
This may be another avenue for illegal activity. Demolish Illegal Malls and Apartment Complexes,to garnish Smart City. These may be ideas of Corrupt elected officials and some members of smart city committee who built illegal mall and some fraudulent projects.
People are smart in Mangalore even without Smart City.

    Respected Authorities,
This is a humble request with you as a Mangalorean:
    1. Don't disturb the General public in the name of Smart City by pushing them to street. Please don't encroach the land of the people. If not definitely it will be refused by the people of Mangalore like yetthina hole.

    2. Provide Good Roads, drainage Footpath in the city with cleanliness.
    3. Provide drinking water to all people in all days.
Provide shelter to people who are houseless.
    4. Try to maintain peace within the people of different religion.
if you try to do these things it will be automatically smart city. but in the name of smart city don't try to push the general public to street.

Most of the people who have large properties are the more greedy once.Just one example You can see these people occupy the footpaths by plants, ramps, signboard etc. which they are supposed to do inside their territory only. Then how come they will sacrifice their land for widening roads etc. With this type of mentality the Mangalore city instead of becoming a smart city it will become a chocked city soon.

The authorities should manage with the existing land and make Mangalore a "SMART CITY". Why should the MCC ask its citizens for land? What is the compensation, is it cash and carry? The traffic is Mangalore is pathetic even at the Central Market area on a Sunday morning it very difficult to get parking and even walking is difficult. The MCC should open their eyes before asking for land. The pedestrian's in Mangalore have a difficult time to walk. The MCC should do something about this.

Why are they not planning to coax generous contributions from the various big institutions/corporates in and around Mangluru who got huge swathes of land on one pretext or the other with the 'purpose' of serving society like putting up educational institutions, IT parks etc. who have already minted money and these enterprises are 'perpetual money spinning machines' with the large tracts of land in their pockets!!!

In the name of Smart City why we need to loot peoples valuable land ?

There are so many things that can be done in Existing land...

Look at Dubai how they turned the Desert into Heaven. But Mangalore is still lagging behind somewhere.

These Dirty politicians are just good to loot people properties and money either directly and indirectly.

I think we need to do some kind of Andholan to get rid of sleeping politicians.
    "Quit Dirty Politician Moment".

Our plans are just on some Animations or banners but reality what we see is 1% of that animation...

Authorities have miserably failed to make Mangalore a proper city. No drainage, no footpaths, no parking, filled with noise pollution, dust pollution, smoke pollution, dirty immoral goondaism etc., traffic chaos. forget the smart city make it a proper city first.

Who will offer land for your Smart City???!!!

People are smarter than you. Those who have suggested perhaps have no land and even if they have do you think they will provide you land for your Smart City.

The land bill of the Congress is in-tact without amendments to it.

PURCHASE THE LAND ON MARKET RATE AND DEVELOP FURTHER.

MANGALORE IS FAST DEVELOPED IN THE NAME OF SEZ AND NOW THE CHAAIWAALA IS GIVING A NEW NAME SMART CITY. FOR THEM I FEEL VERY PITY.
