Preparations on to bring Rajan back to home turf


Mumbai, Nov 3 (Mumbai Mirror): The eight-member CBI-led team that has reached Bali initiated the deportation procedure of Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan on Monday.

The team handed over relevant documents to Indonesian authorities. Sources from the Mumbai crime branch said, "We all prepared to get Chhota Rajan's custody since the maximum cases against him are registered in the jurisdiction of the Mumbai police commissionerate." He added that two rounds of meeting pertaining to the security aspect of the high-profile gang-lord have been discussed and steps have been taken to put him in safe custody till Rajan is in Mumbai's police custody.

An IPS officer from Mumbai police said, "Rajan will most probably be kept inside the police HQ's lockup wherein we lodged 26/11 lone terrorist Ajmal Kasab and several terrorists from the Indian Mujahideen." Commenting on the case under which his custody is first being sought, a source said, "We will try to take Rajan's custody in journalist J Dey's murder case which is pending trial before special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court."
