Mangaluru, Nov 3: Some persons, said to be supporters of Madoor Isubu, reportedly attacked some media photographers, Suresh, Ramesh Pandith, Nagesh, and Irshad, on the evening of Monday November 2 near the mortuary of Wenlock Hospital here. The incident occurred when the body of Isubu was being brought out after postmortem.
Several persons rushed towards the photographers who were clicking pictures on the occasion. They dragged their cameras, tore their shirts, and kicked them. They were angry that their slain leader was being photographed.
Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Union and Udupi District Working Journalists Union have strongly condemned this attack. Both the unions have asked the concerned to extend protection to media representatives. President of Dakshina Kannada district unit of the union, Jagannath Shetty Bala, through a release, said that a delegation will meet city police commissioner, S Murugan, and hand over a petition relating to the incident.
In the meanwhile, district secretary of Democratic Youth Federation of India, Santosh Bajal, has urged the government to transfer city polcie commissioner, S Murugan, holding him responsible for the double murders inside the district jail here.
Isubu's body was buried in the mosque premises at Madoor under tight security. Over 500 persons attended the funeral.
