Mangaluru: Auto rickshaw topples - woman killed, two injured

Mangaluru, Nov 5: A woman lost her life, while another woman and the auto rickshaw driver suffered injuries, in an auto rickshaw accident which occurred on Wednesday November 4 morning. The accident occurred when the auto rickshaw, which moved on the steep road leading to a mall in the city hit the compound wall and tumbled just before reaching the mall.

The deceased was Pushpalata (30) from Bengre here. Vishmita (25), the other injured passenger of the auto rickshaw, also hails from this region. Vishmita suffered fractures in her left forehand and tibia region of her leg. It is said that the accident occurred because of reckless driving.

Pushpalata, who suffered severe head injuries, was rushed to a private hospital, but she breathed her last sometime later at the hospital. The injured auto rickshaw driver and Vishmita are undergoing treatment.

A case was registered in city traffic (west) police station. Investigation has been taken up.
