Mangaluru: Auto driver killed on spot as lorry smashes into rickshaw in Ullal

Mangaluru, Nov 6: An auto rickshaw driver died on the spot after a lorry smashed into his rickshaw on NH-66 at Uchilagudde under Ullal police station limits on Friday November 6.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Rafiq (45) from Gurpur, who was residing at KC Road, Talapady.

The accident took place when he was driving from KC Road towards Someshwar for hire.

Rafiq was operating his auto rickshaw from Someshwar railway station. He was going to Someshwar at about 4.30 am on Friday to park his vehicle there, when a speeding lorry laden with fish plying from Mangaluru to Kerala hit his auto at Uchilagudde, killing Rafiq on the spot.

Rafiq leaves behind his wife, a son and three daughters. He was the bread winner of the family.

Ullal police have registered a case.
