Mangaluru: Murder attempt on man who opposed ganja sale

Mangaluru, Nov 7: Effort to murder a man from the city occurred on the evening of Friday November 6. Abdul Khader from Shantinagara in the city, who was at the receiving end of this attack, reportedly had expressed himself against sale of ganja.

The murder attempt-accused has been identified as Sumit from Moodushedde here. At around 9.45 am on Friday, Khader was standing near a shop at Shantinagara here along with friends, Irfan, Naushad, Safwan,Tamsheer and Hameen, when the accused suddenly confronted him with a knife in hand. It is said that Sumit, besides using abusive words against Khader, also tried to stab him. Allegedly, Khader saved himself by dodging from the attack and escaping from the scene.

Khader said in his complaint that Sumit has been involved with ganja trafficking in Kavoor and Shantinagara areas, and that he was livid at the fact that the youth from the region had opposed this activity. Kavoor police have registered a case and begun investigation.
