Udupi, Nov 8: Udupi, Kaup, Brahmavar and Kota mahila Congress samiti members staged a protest in front of Clock tower here against price hike on cereals on Saturday, November 7. 

Gopi K Nayka, zilla panchayat president addressing the protestors said that, ‘People have been disappointed by the BJP false promises made during the election. Common people are still striving even after price fall on oil. Women are not using pulses in their kitchens."

Former MLA Karkala Gopala Bhandary said "Where is Acche din? BJP made fake promises only to get majority votes.Modi has no commitment on betterment of nation He has kept silent about price hike."

Divyaprabha Chiltadka, president, Social welfare board, said "Now a days women have stopped using dal and other pulses in domestic food. Shobha Karandlaje may not be using cereals at her home. Hence, she maintains her silence in price hike issue. Is Shobha not a daughter? BJP always used to give statements on beef and animal violence. But why not on this issue? Diebetics are not getting drugs because they are expensive. NDA government has increased price on food grains during its term. How BJP representatives will show their faces to the public? Being a house maker, how Shobha will manage her house? Modi has provided jobs only to his dear ones."

"Modi loves publicity. That is why he is doing all schemes as Nirmal Bharat, Swacch Bharat, Beti Bachao-Beti Padao and so on for getting publicity in the name of development.The central government made a cut of Rs 10, 000 crores in Women and Children welfare fund. NDA only changed the names of several governmental programmes, which were implemented during the UPA government." Divyaprabha added.
