Mangaluru, Nov 9: Family members of underworld fugitive, Madoor Isubu, who was killed inside the district prison here recently by the rival inmates of the jail, approached state home minister, Dr G Parameshwar, with a demand for payment of Rs 50 lac as compensation to them towards the death of Isubu. They said that family of Ganesh Shetty, who was also slain inside the jail the same day, may also be paid a similar amount.

The family met the home minister on Sunday November 8 at the Circuit House. They said that two inmates of the jail including Isubu were killed because of the negligence of jail officials, and insisted that they are eligible for payment of compensation as the government was guilty of omissions and failures in this incident. "As per statements made by senior police officers, arms were smuggled into the jail premises in tune with a pre-conceived plan. As such, truth should be brought out by ordering investigation by criminal investigation department," they demanded.

The brothers of Madoor Isubu showed to the home minister a copy of a memorandum earlier submitted to the city police commissioner here, in which Isubu's wife, Jaseema Firdous, had drawn the attention of the commissioner to the fact that Isubu was facing life threat, and had therefore, requested him to provide added security to the notorious underworld element. They stressed that the apathy of the department was prominently visible in this case.

Brothers of Isubu, Mohiuddin, Abdul Rahim, Mohidin, Ahmed Bava, Hamid, and sister, Zeenat Banu, were present.
