Kundapur, Nov 12: A two day long state level King Fisher Trophy 2015, Kabaddi tournament was held in the floodlit Kingfisher Sports Club at Kharvi Keri Kundapur marking the club's 35th anniversary as well as the celebration of Deepavali. The tournament concluded on Monday November 9 night.























Karnataka minister of urban development and district in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurating the concluding ceremony said that Kabaddi is our country's sport. “For many years the sport was confined to villages. The contribution of our rural sports persons in order to achieve the sport's global recognition is immense. The sport has already been identified in the Asian games. If in future the sport gets popular in 50 countries in the world participation in the Olympics will not be difficult. Just winning in the sport is not important. It is a team sport. Therefore it sends a message of gathering and unification to the society. Rupees one crore will be released for the welfare of the Kharvi community.”

Former minister K Jayaprakash Hegde speaking on the occasion said that it is a matter of pride that women actively participate in national sports thereby showcasing their talents. “We must think of donating the organs of our body after our death if they can be useful to other people.”

In men’s Kabaddi tournaments, Honnavar’s Durga Devi team won first prize and Kundapur’s Danger guys got second prize. In the women’s category Muniyalu team bagged first prize and Kota’s Vahini team came
