Mangaluru: 'CHILDLINE Se Dosti' campaign to begin from Nov 14

Mangaluru, Nov 13: Renni D'Souza, collab director, CHILDLINE Mangaluru 1098 disclosed that 'CHILDLINE Se Dosti' a campaign to make the general public stakeholders in CHILDLINE 1098 will be observed through various events throughout the week from November 14 - November 20. This was revealed at a press meet conducted on November 12.

Addressing the media Renni D'Souza said, "The aim is to capture the attention of those who are ignorant of CHILDLINE and its ongoing efforts to support as well as help people play their part in protecting children. Through a series of events, competitions, employee engagement programs and publicity, CHILDLINE aims to create an awareness culture to make CHILDLINE 1098 a household name. People from all walks of life will get to know CHILDLINE, begin to care about vulnerable children and appreciate the need for protecting children whether student, taxi driver, IT professional, rickshaw puller or housewife. CHILDLINE Se Dosti will be held from 14th November to 20th November. In this week-long event we aspire to inculcate in the minds of all our allied partners, corporate associates, media, telecom companies, celebrities, schools and colleges, the objective of child protection through 'CHILDLINE' 1098."

"The inauguration will be held on November 14 at Pilikula Park by children in the presence of people representatives and district officials. Following the inauguration will be a series of events at various places which will come to a close on November 20. The total number of calls received by CHILDLINE Mangaluru 1098 from January 2014 to December 2014 was 3,180. The calls are classified under the heads: medical help-2, shelter-18, restoration-22, death related-3, sexual abuse-26, other forms of abuse-69, school related-105, child marriage-8, trafficking-3, sponsorship-26, missing child found-24, parents asking help-1, emotional help and guidence-13, information and referral to services-81, information on about childline and volunteer-515, follow up calls-567 and others 1697."

"The total number of calls received by CHILDLINE Mangaluru 1098 from January 2015 to September 2015 is 3,074. The calls are classified under the heads: medical help-3, shelter-45, restoration-8, death related-5, sexual abuse-13, other forms of abuse-116, school related-104, child marriage-8, trafficking-4, sponsorship-14, missing child found-30, parents asking help-3, emotional help and guidence-25, information and refferal to services-26, information on about childline and volunteer-455, follow up calls-706 and others 1507."

Yogish Malligemaadu, city coordinator CHILDLINE Mangaluru 1098 and Sampath Katti, center coordinator CHILDLINE Mangaluru 1098 were present at the press meet.
