Mangaluru: Law and order in district under control: DC A B Ibrahim

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MD)

Mangaluru, Nov 14: The law and order situation in the district is under control and no major incidents of violence have been reported in the last few hours, said deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim.

He was addressing a press meet at his office here on Saturday November 14 in the wake of Section-144 imposed in the city till Sunday November 15 night following a call for bandh by VHP and Bajrang Dal on Friday November 13 in protest against the murder of Harish and violence in Madikeri on Tipu Jayanti which claimed the life of a VHP leader.

"On November 13 night, there were incidents at Karaya in Beltangady and Ullal. Also, four people were arrested for the stone-pelting on a mosque at Bunder," he said.

He also said that though Section-144 has been imposed on district, permission was granted for the inauguration of renovated Town Hall on Saturday. Also, permission has been granted to hold Yakshotsava Silveer Jubilee celebrations in Sampaje. But all other religious, social and cultural events and meets have been postponed under further orders.

Five persons who were injured in the incidents reported in the last two days are recovering in hospitals, he said, adding that those responsible for the incidents have been taken into custody and investigations are on.

He also informed that chief secretary of the state government has sought a report on the law and order situation in the district.

The DC also appealed to the people not to pay heed to rumours especially on social media like WhatsApp and Facebook, and urged the media to help in maintaining peace by using discretion while reporting. He further said that people are welcome to call the police control room or the district administration if they need any information on the law and order situation.

There is a saying in Kannada: Beliye Hola meydanthe !!

For the unrest in Karnataka, the government of Karnataka, aka CM is responsible.
Lawyers should be able to explain under which section of the Indian Penal code- the responsible person should be held responsible for causing unrest.

Governor of Karnataka has the power to recall the government .

We deserve a far better government. The priorities of CM of Karnataka are they in celebrating Jayanthi's? Is this a symptomtomatic of perdition( avanathi) of Congress party?
