Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, Nov 16: “The imposition of section 144 has ended on Sunday and the law and order situation in Dakshina Kannada is completely under control,” Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim has revealed in a statement.

“In some places of the district, more time is required to see the complete peaceful situation. Hence we have imposed restrictions for rallies, protests, public meetings, bandh, strikes and road blocks as per column 20 of the police act till November 20. In case of unavoidable circumstances to hold any event, applications can be sent to the deputy commissioner for permission. The district administration will grant permission after due consideration,” He said.

He also said that sufficient personnel to maintain law and order have been deployed in the district including the Rapid Action Force, police personnel from several neighbouring districts and also KSRP platoons.

He has requested the public to help in maintaining peace in the society and to report the suspicious movements of strangers to the police.

As most of the untoward incidents have happened during night, public have been told not to venture out much at night.

The deputy commissioner paid visits to the people who were taking treatments in hospitals after sustaining injuries in some incidents last week. Out of the 6 injured, one person has been discharged. DC said that all the hospital expenses of the injured will be borne by the district administration.

The checking of vehicle by police on the roads continues. Some special check posts have been set up.

This team of Ibrahim and Murugan have done a great job. What could have turned into a very nasty situation, with the usual suspects itching for a conflagration, has been contained in chilled-steel administration style. History will remember you two.

Like mahathma Gandhi said "An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind"..Imagine all the people in mangalore living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join me, and the mangalorians will be as one...not caste based comments, fights, killings, only development and peace.and Peace begins with a smile. We must all make peace so that we can all live in peace.

Latif Mapal, Urval Padav: I dotn think that Tippu was in favour or supporting any other community. We have many examples of mangalore itself where many mangalore catholics suffered a lot because of him. He had destroyed Milagres, Rosario and Kirem(Damaskatte) churches and built a very big mosque at bavuta gudde. So if this attitude is not called as communalism then why we call BD / RSS as Communals? We Catholics are very happy if that was Sir Abdul Kalam's Birthday instead of tippu Jayanthi... Now we cannot change as the ruler Siddharamaiaah approved the Tippu Jayanthi. :(

but still BD/RSS & other people are happy to celebrate the birth day of Abul Kalam. it shows that these people are not against to celebrate the birthday of any muslim but they hate tipu bcoz of his attitude & communalism/conversion/murder of innocent people.
