Ballari, Nov 16: Sri Ram Sene chief, Pramod Muthalik, was released from the central prison here on bail on Sunday November 15 after he spent three days inside.

He had been arrested from Hassan on November 12 night, ahead of the state-wide protest called by VHP and Bajrang Dal against the celebrations of Tipu Sultan's birth anniversary and the violence that had erupted in Madikeri in which a VHP leader was killed. Muthalik was then shifted to the central prison here under the instructions of Hassan tahsildar.

Along with him, 20 more persons had also been arrested by the police as precautionary measure, under sections 107 and 151 of Criminal Procedure Code pertaining to apprehension about breach of peace and tranquility.

After he secured bail and was released, Muthalik told the media persons that he was neither a terrorist nor a black marketeer. He expressed his resentment at the manner in which he was arrested, saying that there was no plausible reason for the government to arrest him.

It may be recalled that after his arrested, Sri Rama Sene had given a deadline of three days for Muthalik's release, and threatened to hold severe protests if their demand was not met.
