Assembly mourns demise of Prof Kalaburagi, Kaiyyara Kinhanna Rai

Bengaluru, Nov 16: The Karnataka Legislative Assembly, which began its brief winter session on Monday, mourned the recent demise of Prof M M Kalaburagi and noted Kannada writer Kaiyyara Kinhanna Rai.

The Assembly also paid homage to other deceased leaders including M Venkatesh Naik, member of the current house, former minister M Mahadev, former legislators G Mahadevappa, S G Prakash Shetty and H B Krishnamurthy and veteran Kannada film director K S L Swamy.

The house also paid homage to the farmers, who had committed suicide, and also the 129 deceased persons in the recent serial terrorist bomb attacks in Paris.

The State Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa moved the condolence resolution, which was supported by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Opposition leader Jagadish Shettar, BJP member Govind M Karjol and JD(S) Deputy leader Y S V Datta.

The House unanimously adopted the condolence resolution and observed a minutes silence and adjourned the day’s sitting as a mark of respect without transacting any business.
