Kasargod: Hosangady accident - Toll rises to three as 8-yr-old succumbs

Kasargod, Nov 17: The young girl who sustained critical injuries in the accident near Hosangady, Manjeshwar here on Sunday November 15 breathed her last in a private hospital in Mangaluru on Tuesday November 17. With this, the death toll in the accident has risen to three.

Sangeeta (8) was seriously injured when the Alto car she was in rammed into a parked tanker near Hosangady on November 15. Two others who were in the car, Umesh Mayya (70) and his wife Sharada (65) died soon after the accident.

Four others, identified as Sangeeta's father Chidananda Mayya (44), her sister Manvita (4), and relatives Parvati (60) and Shobha (25) were injured and are still in hospital.

Sangeeta was a second standard student of Don Bosco School, Kayyar.

It is learnt that the accident took place when the family was returning to Bandiyod after attending a relative's house warming ceremony in Suratkal.
