Mangaluru: Miscreants rob man on pretext of offering drop, one arrested

Mangaluru, Nov 18: Out of two persons who offered to drop a person named Ashwin Pai from Badiyadka to his native place in their car and then robbed him of his gold ornament, one stands arrested by Ullal police. The policemen have taken into possession a car from him and seized gold ornaments belonging to Pai.

The arrested accused has been identified as Pajju alias Moideen Faizal from Kunjattur Padavu in Manjeshwar. The police personnel are now trying to find out the other accused, British Ajmal.

Ashwin Pai was waiting for a bus late night on November 6, when two persons, Faizal and Ajmal, who were travelling by a car, stopped their vehicle and offered a drop to Pai, telling him that they too are going towards Kerala. Once the car reached Beeri, the car took deviation towards Madoor. The two snatched away a gold chain Pai was wearing around his neck, and escaped after pushing him out of the car.

The Ullal police, after registering the case, took up investigation. They got reliable clues about the robbers and arrested one of the accused from near Talapady and confiscated a car and gold chain.

Ullal police inspector, Pavitra Teja, and sub-inspector, Bharati, in association with crime sub-inspector of the station, Rajendra, led a team of police personnel under the guidance of senior officials of the department based on information gathered by city police commissioner, Murugan.
