Mangaluru, Nov 19: Bhoomi puja for 'Veenu Smart Homes', the upcoming project by Veenu Real Estate and Developers, was held at Shaktinagar here on Thursday November 19.
Radha Sherlekar, mother of Vinod Sherlekar and Nandan Sherlekar, managing directors of Veenu Real Estate and Developers, inaugurated the formal ceremony.
Former mayor and corporator Shashidhar Hegde and Dr B V Sathyanarayana, managing director, Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) laid the foundation stone for the project.
Welcoming the gathering, project in-charge Vineet Sherlekar briefed about the project and informed that out of 80 apartments in the a five-storey building, over 60 apartments have already sold out. "Smart Homes for the smart people in the Smart City is what everybody need. The total extent of land is about 2.5 acres which would be developed in phases. Today's event marks the bhoomi puja of the first phase of 'Veenu Smart Homes'. It stands on an area of 58 cents. There would be 16 apartments on each floor.
"Out of 80 apartments, 50 apartments would be 2 BHK of 714 sq ft, 735 sq ft, 745 sq ft and 767 sq ft, while 30 would be 1 BHK of only one size, that is 595 sq ft. The furnishing has been undertaken by our sister concern M/s Veenu Enterprises," he added.
Diwakar Constructions is the contractor for the project, while structural work will be by Anil Hegde, with Vinay Kumar for architectural support.
Addressing the gathering, Shashidhar Hegde said, "If our city has to be developed, then the outskirts have to be developed first. With Kavoor, Kulshekar and Padil, now Shaktinagar is also developing. We are also planning to provide good water facility to this area very soon. Water tank of 15 lac litre capacity has been constructed. Roads are also being concreted in this area and underground drainage facility is coming up."
Vinod Sherlekar, Nandan Sherlekar, Raghav Bangera, chief manager of Bharath Bank, corporators Abdul Aziz and Zubeda Begum, Anil Hegde, structural engineer, Vinay Kumar Bagambila, Anand of Udayavani, advocate Rajendra Rao Mayyadi, advisors of Veenu Group Kashinath Nayak and Krishna Mohan, Divakar from Divakar Constructions and others were present.
