Kundapur: Two killed on spot in separate accidents near Byndoor

Kundapur, Nov 21: Two persons died on the spot in separate accidents near Byndoor new bus stand and on the national highway at Nakatte here on Saturday November 21.

Gopal Poojary (40), a resident of Navunda, was killed in the accident near Byndoor bus stand. Poojary was crossing the highway between Byndoor tahsildar office and the new bus stand in his bike, when a container lorry plying from Shiroor rammed into him, killing him on the spot.

Gopal Poojary, who hailed from Sirsi, was working in a hotel and had recently come to his wife's house in Navunda. He had gone to Byndoor for some work and was returning to Navunda when the accident took place.

Soon after the above accident, Janardhan Acharya (45) was killed in a second mishap on the national highway at Nakatte near Byndoor. He was riding towards Yadthare when a tipper lorry hit his bike head-on and crushed him to death.

Janardhan Acharya was an assistant teacher at Maikala school. He was returning to Maikala after attending a programme in a school at Byndoor when the accident took place. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

Byndoor inspector Santosh Kaikini visited the spot. Traffic on the highway was affected for sometime following the accidents.

Byndoor police have registered the cases.

    Killers all from outsiders riding heavy vehicles. Victims are all Locals 2 wheeler riders. Locals please wake up.

    "HEART BROCKEN" RIP BOTH DECEASED... And heartfelt condolences to their family and friends. WHAT ABOUT ALLOWING SUCH GOODS TRUCKS AND CONTAINERS ONLY @ NIGHT?
