Udupi, Nov 21: “Marks alone do not mould the personality of school children. It is necessary that the children involve themselves in arts and creativity. When they indulge in cultural activities along with studies, they have all round growth. It is a unique opportunity for me to inaugurate the cultural programme with such aspirations. May special talents get exposed in this forum”, said Zee TV Sarigamapa Little champ national award recipient master, Gagan Gaonkar.
He was speaking after inaugurating sixth annual group dance competition, festival of UFC children 2015 of Udupi district primary and high school students on children’s day, the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru which was held under the aegis of Service and Cultural forum, Udyavar Friends circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Udyavar Nagesh Kumar, director of the association, who presided over the programme said, “We are snatching away the childhood of children and should return it to them urgently. Only then will a healthy society be formed. If not, creativity will be missing from it causing a tragedy of society. In this direction the Children's day of Nehru whose far sightedness in his saying that 'Child is the father of the man' has highlighted that children's childhood should not be snatched away. The UFC is celebrating the children's day festival from the last six years. The association has given an apt platform for children to showcase their talents. We intend to make it more colourful in future”.
Chief guest, Bharath Seva Dal district secretary Mahabala Kunder said, “Children's day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Nehru considering his concern towards children. With it, we can see his care and dreams of sublime country through children".
The other chief guest, Udyavar gram panchayat president Sugandhi Shekar gave a key note address on the occasion. Taluk panchayat member Girish Kumar was present on the dais.
Crematorium worker Kutti Poojary was donated monetary help of Rs ten thousand in the programme. Child Shanon Monteiro was donated a wheel chair on the occasion.
Gagan Gaonkar was also felicitated on this occasion.
Association president U R Chandrashekar welcomed. Chief secretary Thilak Raj Salian proposed vote of thanks. Member Abidali compered the programme.
