Doha: KSQ brings forth splendour of Karnataka at Rajyotsava celebrations

Doha, Nov 21: The glory and splendour of Karnataka was on full display before the jam-packed audience at the 60th Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations organized by Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) at the DPS Auditorium here on November 20 evening. KSQ’s Rajyotsava celebrations are always awaited eagerly by the large number of Kannadigas working and living in Qatar since every year KSQ dishes out spectacular programmes that showcase the majesty and richness of culture and traditions of Karnataka. This year too was not an exception as the meticulously organized programme received wonderful reception by the audience.

The programme began with the grand procession wherein guests of the evening were escorted into the auditorium by the president and executive committee members of KSQ. Following this compeers of the evening Roopa and Kishore were introduced to the audience after which the guests were guests were welcomed by presenting saplings. The programme then was formally inaugurated by the lighting of the lamp by the guest of honour litterateur Dr H S Venkatesha Murthy, cine actors Avinash and Malavika, ICBF president Aravind Patil, KSQ president H K Madhu, immediate past president Deepak Shetty, former president V S Mannangi along with KSQ executive committee members.

With this stage was thrown open for gala cultural programmes presented by different Karnataka-based associations dance by MCC, ballet by Tulu Koota Qatar - "Ekikaranada nele, Rajyotsavada ale", "Hennu Samajada kannu" by Bunts Qatar, ballet by Billavas Qatar - "Kannada kannadigaru, andu indu, ballet by Karnataka Sangha Qatar - "Amma Naanu Devarane Benne Kaddillamma" a song written by special invitee H S Venkateshmurthy. Spectacular dances, ballets and skits presented by these associations displayed patriotic fervor and love for Karnataka and Kannada language. The thunderous applause by the audience was the proof that all the Associations presented splendid programmes that portrayed the glory and splendor of Kannada culture in its fullness.

Following this a short stage programme was held. Guests of the evening were escorted to the dais by KSQ president and his team.Chief Guest of thre evening Suneel Thapliyal, second secretary (Labour and Community Welfare, Death Cases and RTI) addressing the gathering lauded KSQ effort to build community, ICBF president Arvind Patil, Avinash and Malavika thanked KSQ and praised Association. KSQ’s souvenir Sirigandha was released on the occasion. KSQ president H K Madhu welcomed the gathering while general secretary Sandesh Anand proposed vote of thanks.

With this it was time of the main attraction of the evening Karnataka Vaibhava Ballet from Prabhat Kalavidaru. Actress Hema Panchamukhi of America America movie fame along with Deepashree and Harish and other team members presented a spectacular ballet that had everyone glued to their seats till their end with awe and appreciation. Prabhat Kalavidaru is one of the most celebrated and oldest theatre group going around known for their brilliant ballets and plays all across the world. One of their most successful ballets is Cindrella which is an adaptation of English fairy tale had first been staged in 1977. Since then it has been staged more than 1000 times in India and abroad.

KSQ justifiably chose such a famed group to present the glory of the Karnataka to the Doha audience at their annual Rajyotsava celebration. It was such an awe inspiring programme unwinding the magnificent and glorious culture of Karnataka and Kannada
