Mangaluru, Nov 22: The Mini Vidhana Soudha located near Town Hall here was inaugurated by former union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily on Sunday November 22. The structure, which has been built at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore and took over seven years for completion, will house offices related to Mangaluru taluk administration.

Addressing the gathering, Moily said, "This building has been built at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore. Mini Vidhana Soudha is a good concept, these kinds of taluk buildings will benefit the public. Though it was delayed, the chief minister stepped up the work and now it has been inaugurated.

"Mangaluru is a prominent place for business and industry. Such type of material infrastucture is very essential. The state goverrnment is ready to take all measures that are beneficial to people," he added.

"The work on national highway near Padubidri had stopped but now it has resumed. When Oscar Fernandes and I were union ministers, the road widening work on the Shivamogga-Mangaluru stretch via Agumbe was approved after proper research on the matter. So far only small vehicles have been able to move along this road, but after the widening, even heavy vehicles will be able to move on this stretch," he said.

Regarding the proposed tunnel on Shiradi Ghat, he said the project report is ready and the state government has alreay prepared a blueprint.

MLA J R Lobo presided over the programme.

District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, health minister U T Khader, youth affairs and sports minister Abhaychandra Jain, Puttur MLA Shakuntala Shetty, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, mayor Jacintha Alfred, MUDA chairman Ibrahim Kodijal and others were present.

The construction of the building began in 2008. The building, consisting of ground plus two floors and a basement, will house the taluk office, sub-registrar's office and other administrative offices.

Dear Friends, what kind of people you are ? Read speech of Dharmastala Hegde on Moily which delivered yesterday at Mangalore.Moily contributed his very level best to Mangalore, few for eg: Mangalore University, MRPL,Expansion of Manglore Airport,New Building for Lady Goshen etc.,and don't forget CET is his brain child. and Remember he never represented Mangalore in Indian Parliament or Karnatak Assembly.

look at us. This culprit who stabbed all Mangaloreans , for his votebank , attempted to divert our heart rever NEthravathi, called with so many nick names while we all protested against Yethinahole project... same culprit has been given a red carpet welcome by our city people ( may be one sector, not sure which sector of Mangalore who are ok to do that ), extending a warm welcome to him and listen to his words. what a shame for us... pity on ourselves being apart of this system. Both Oscar and Moily , they don't have moral right to enter the city. Enough they have screwed us... but unfortunately some people play their roles because of political drama roles they have assigned with. Any ways, if you ask me, I would have stopped them coming to this city any time in now or future.

Mr. Moily doesn't deserve to Visit Manga lore. He is the one who gave negative response for "Yettinahole" project.

    Jossey,

DEVELOPMENT ...is a loaded word...for some it means corruption and making money...for some other its cutting ribbon... to remain in lime light... few others its to exhibit their dyed hair and (non-existing ?)mustache...for me its all of the above!!!

I would advise Kinnigoli bank robbers...its more profitable to cut ribbon than cutting bank lockers...

We can have nice posh buildings interiors for govt offices but what the use when lacking sincere professionalism. Its much better if the state govt can compensate for Endosalfan victims instead of wasting money in govt projects who made public appeal ln bangslore last week. How can the ministers feel about how its difficult to travel with endosalfan sufferers.

    No Politics Pls...
Wish these funds were used for completion of Lady Goschen Hospital.
High time we move away from huge office space and bring in technology enabled work culture.
Lack of vision and petty politics all I can say :(

Excellent - wonderful - A Mini Vidhana Soudha.

I know all the dignitaries. Great people - PEOPLES' MEN. They have done a great job. ... However the needs of the day are GOOD ROADS AND FOOTPATHS.

It would indeed a great service to the people of Mangalore if these needs are prioritized.

The people will ever be grateful to you.

Yes people will be greatfull to mr moily because he is the one who sold mother land by initiating yethinahole project when he was representative of chikballapur district. Just for the sake of vote he sold nethravathi.

Veerappa Moily should be barred from entering Mangalore. Janardhana Poojary, should have been there and not Moily and Aithappa Fernandes.
