JDS opposes Congress proposal to unseat Upa Lokayukta

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Nov 23: JDS has decided to oppose Congress move to remove Upa Lokayukta, Justice Subhash Adi. The party will soon draw out strategy how it can fight against this move along with BJP and how the party can reap political benefit out of this move.

Party leader, Basavaraja Horatti, said that his party does not contribute the politicization of the issue on the lines of Congress and BJP. He felt that allegations are being levelled now against the Upa Lokayukta without any basis. He asserted that politics should not be brought in the issue of Lokayukta. "Evenif another Upa Lokayukta is brought in his place, there will be some unfounded allegations. We cannot go on removing people in this fashion and weaken the institution of Lokayukta," he stated.

The fact that the Congress has suddenly mooted the idea of removing Justice Adi as Upa Lokayukta at a time when the proposal to remove Lokayukta Y Bhaskar Rao is under consideration, has ruffled the feathers of opposition parties. During the discussions in the assembly, BJP may also rake up the issue of sting operation against social welfare minister, Anjaneya, with the aim of embarrassing the ruling party.
