Kasargod: KSRTC officials perform Homa to get rid of spirits!

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Nov 26: A Homa (oblation) had been organized at the local depot of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation here at midnight on October 23. The rituals were aimed at driving out some spirits, which the officials believe, were haunting the depot. Top officials were present during the procedure it is gathered.

After the issue came to their notice with inordinate delay, top officials of the corporation have ordered an investigation by the vigilance cell. Many have expressed suspicion about the actual purpose of this Homa.

An astrologer from the state's border with Karnataka guided the entire procedure, it is gathered. It is claimed hat the officials, worried over the recent spate of accidents involving their buses, were told that nasty spirits were behind this phenomenon. As they were advised to ward off the evil through Homa, out of superstition, they decided to perform this procedure, it is learnt.

Although the officials tried to claim that only Ganapati Puja was performed as part of Ayudha Puja that day, the fact that an astrologer was present there has given rise to doubts. It is said that the money required for the Homa was funded by drivers of buses together.

Dear cathlics & muslims commentators on subject Homa performed, What you believe in is your belief and we don't have any problem. What we hindus believe is our stuff, and you people should not have any problem, its the drivers who have spent out of their pocket. Dont you sprinkle holy water or zam zam, what for its sprinkled on?, however there may be some logic and we are least bothered or interested to know.

May be you believe both in God & the Devil or may be Nashik.
The subject is complex and beyond our thinking power. So I do not want argue or try to convince.
If there is Evil, Satanic power what is above them is God (The creator) power. That is faith.

    Flavian,

Your belief is same as any rest of the people believe. There is no difference in it.

Aztecs believed that they need to offer hearts to their lord so that they can have another day granted to them. They literally did it then. Did aztecs believe that they were wrong??? no.

I do think that only particular community believes in tantric power or black magic. Such practice is prevalent in most of the communities and in all the Countries of the World. In western countries they call it cult followers. Believing or not believing left up to the individual.
For me my faith in God is stronger than blind belief.

    - Because "faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not ... " - Read Hebrews 11 if you have time.
    - One simply doesn't believe in anything and everything or nothing.

    Sam,

I dont have to read what 3000 year old goat herders wrote. Cause they didnt even know where did the sun go at night, didnt know what germ or an atom was, didnt know that earth was not the center of universe.

    - No one has seen an atom, yet people believe in it. Why? Isn't there sufficient evidence of things that appear not? Shouldn't that help one to differentiate between faith and blind belief.

During Bhopal gas tragedy, two Brahmin families in the nearest vicinity survived without even getting hospitalised. While people at several miles away also got killed or hospitalised. Waht has come out after reseach was that these 2 famillies do Homa Havan, not once in a while, but every day.. i guess some agnihotra somayaji etc.. this has made the whole family far healthier than the Uunion cardbide company later asked some US university to make some more research on it...
well, the homa if made in a proper way, has its effect not just to individual, but the socienty... if homa is superstitious, ten what about hailing god in a loud noise ? it is up to the believers to do it which ever way they like... those who make fun, let them stay away and continue to think like a frong in the well. I wish the best to the drivers and the passengers of the buses.

Good to meet a fellow atheist over here.
