Shivamogga, Nov 27: The police have taken into custody a person on the suspicion that He would have been involved with the destruction of some items and stealing some medals, awards and citations belonging to Rashtrakavi, celebrated Kannada poet and scholar, the late K V Puttappa (Kuvempu) at Kuppalli near Thirthahalli on Monday night.

The arrested person happens to be Kayakada Revanna alias Revanasiddappa from Anugodu near Davanagere. It is learnt that Revanasiddappa faces several cases of thefts in various stations including Nyakmathi, Ripponpet, and Davanagere. Sources said he was involved with a number of minor thefts, and that he is being questioned at a secret destination.

The thief had entered the house of the poet by using a ladder and removing tiles of the house and then breaking the glasses of showcases in which the medals etc were kept, taking advantage of the absence of night watchman. He also had destroyed CCTV cameras. However, the policemen got his footage on CCTV, on the basis of which the above arrest was made.
