Puttur, Nov 27: The wife of a person, who died at Bengaluru under suspicious circumstances, approached Uppinangady police on the night of Thursday November 26, seeking postmortem of her husband's body as she suspected foul play.

Mithun (30) from Kalanja House in Biliyoor village in Bantwal taluk had been escorted by a person from Madikeri on November 22, with the stated objective of executing some lighting work at Bengaluru. Mithun's wife, Rajani, called Mihun as was her routine, on Thursday, and a stranger received the call and informed that her husband was in hospital. When she again called the same number, the person said that Mithun had died and that his body would be dispatched to his native place.

On Thursday night, two persons brought the mortal remains of Mithun in a Tata Sumo vehicle to his place. When questioned, they said that when attending to lighting work on Wednesday night, Mithun suddenly started to vomit blood and that he had been admitted into a hospital immediately. They added that Mithun died at the hospital on Thursday morning.

On the basis of the above complaint, the police have taken the vehicle used to transport Mithun's body and also the two persons who accompanied the vehicle, into custody. The body has been sent to a hospital at Deralakatte near Mangaluru for postmortem and report is awaited.
