Kundapur: 45-year-old firefighter hangs self from Herikudru bridge

Kundapur, Nov 27: A firefighter allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the bridge on national highway at Herikudru here on Friday November 27.

The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar (45), a resident of Maddugudde. He was serving with the Koni fire service.

It is learnt that after finishing his duty at Pali on Thursday November 26 night, Bhaskar returned home on Friday morning. After having breakfast, he left home in his TVS bike.

About an hour later, his body was found hanging from the Herikudru bridge on NH-66.

Bhaskar was known to be a sincere man and an expert in swimming. He leaves behind his wife and two children.

The reason for taking the extreme step is not known.

Kundapur police and fire service arrived at the spot. The body was shifted to Kundapur government hospital for post-mortem.

Kundapur police have registered a case.
